This week's prize for
honest liberalism goes to Michigan's
John Dingell, who is having fun with his fellow Democrats while also making a
useful point about the politics of global warming. The venerable Chairman of
the House Energy and Commerce Committee--first elected in 1955--has announced
that he plans to introduce as early as this week a new tax on carbon emissions.

[SPPI Note: Alarming
claims about AGW-induced-coral extinction in the article below are virtual fictions.
It should be telling right off that Dean doesn’t make any literature references
for these claims. That is to say, coral-growth models that claim an enhanced greenhouse
effect on the [predicted] decrease of coral calcification rates rely on theoretical
calculations, not real-world data. The real question is, why trust Dean or the “environmental
experts” she quotes {one a wholesale dealer in aquarium supplies}, especially
when two separate long-term real-world data sets {ignored by Dean} are available
to inform the subject.
