ALIENS CAUSE GLOBAL WARMING
by Michael Crichton | January 17, 2003
California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, CA An historical approach detailing how over the last thirty years scientists have begun to intermingle scientific and political claims.
ENVIRONMENTALISM AS RELIGION
by Michael Crichton | September 15, 2003
Commonwealth Club, San Francisco, CA – This was not the first discussion of environmentalism as a religion, but it caught on and was widely quoted. Michael explains why religious approaches to the environment are inappropriate and cause damage to the natural world they intend to protect.
THE CASE FOR SKEPTICISM ON GLOBAL WARMING
by Michael Crichton | January 25, 2005
National Press Club, Washington DC – Michael's detailed explanation of why he criticizes global warming scenarios. Using published UN data, he reviews why claims for catastrophic warming arouse doubt; why reducing CO2 is vastly more difficult than we are being told; and why we are morally unjustified to spend vast sums on this speculative issue when around the world people are dying of starvation and disease.

As representatives of the nations of the world meet in Copenhagen to attempt to restrict the use of energy produced from coal, gas and oil in the guise of fighting global warming, many scientists and scholars are expressing grave concerns about what they are trying to do, as shown in the video vignettes posted in the categorized-links.

Here we are today debating the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme
legislation, which is one of the biggest pieces of legislation ever to
come before the parliament, and the Rudd government wants to ram it
through the Senate. The CPRS is a multibillion dollar tax that will
affect every single Australian. Just a few hours ago the Rudd
government put forward changes to its flawed Carbon Pollution Reduction
Scheme, and now it wants the Senate to agree to them without proper
scrutiny and debate. This is irresponsible and reckless behaviour and,
to me, it is an attack on what a democracy is all about. The Senate
should not be voting on the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme until at
least after Copenhagen and until after we know what the rest of the
world is going to commit to.

Is there a reason to be alarmed by the prospect of global warming?
Consider that the measurement used, the globally averaged temperature
anomaly (GATA), is always changing. Sometimes it goes up, sometimes
down, and occasionally—such as for the last dozen years or so—it does
little that can be discerned.

Some are unhappy that the Copenhagen conference on climate change is going forward. I think that it is entirely appropriate in light of the revelations coming out of CRU/IPCC. After all, Copenhagen was where Danish author Hans Christian Andersen published The Emperor's New Clothes in 1837. While we tend to remember the little boy who called out "But he isn't wearing anything at all!" we often forget that the entire story was about far more than a vain ruler.

Cap-and-trade in Australia — which just a week ago was declared a certainty — is officially dead.
Warming Scandal: The architect of climate fraud steps down, the creator of the infamous "hockey stick" is investigated, and Australia's parliament defeats cap-and-trade. We love the smell of truth in the morning.

Our hopelessly compromised scientific establishment cannot be allowed to get away with the Climategate whitewash.
A week after my colleague James Delingpole , on his Telegraph blog, coined the term "Climategate" to describe the scandal revealed by the leaked emails from the University of East Anglia's Climatic Research Unit, Google was showing that the word now appears across the internet more than nine million times. But in all these acres of electronic coverage, one hugely relevant point about these thousands of documents has largely been missed.

Now that ClimateGate has buried the fraudulent hockey stick for good, it is easily to prove that global warming is not man-made: just compare the timing of our carbon dioxide emissions with the timing of global warming.

In science, as in most disciplines, the process is as important as the product. The recent email/data release (aka Climategate) has exposed the process of scientific peer-review as failing. If the process is failing, it is reasonable to wonder what this implies about the product.

The whistleblower deep in the basement of one of the ugly, modern tower-blocks of the dismal, windswept University of East Anglia could scarcely have timed it better.
In less than three weeks, the world’s governing class – its classe politique – would meet in Copenhagen, Denmark, to discuss a treaty to inflict an unelected and tyrannical global government on us, with vast and unprecedented powers to control all once-free world markets and to tax and regulate the world’s wealthier nations for its own enrichment: in short, to bring freedom, democracy, and prosperity to an instant end worldwide, at the stroke of a pen, on the pretext of addressing what is now known to be the non-problem of manmade “global warming”.

Hypocrisy in high places is nothing new; but the extent to which it pervades the Climategate Culture - which gave us the hockeystick history of 20th-century global warming - knows no bounds.

I rise to speak on the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme Bill 2009 [No. 2] and related bills. In my opinion this is some of the most significant legislation to be debated in this place. Whenever I speak on legislation, I only do so after thoroughly researching and analysing the issue being debated. I always try to make the most informed decision I can, and I have certainly given this issue a great deal of thought.

The hockey stick story reveals that the IPCC allowed a deeply flawed study to dominate the Third Assessment Report, which suggests the possibility of bias in the Report-writing process. In view of the massive global influence of IPCC Reports, there is an urgent need to bias-proof future assessments in order to put climate policy onto a new foundation that will better serve the public interest.

There have been strident claims that New Zealand is warming. The Inter-governmental Panel
on Climate Change (IPCC), among other organisations and scientists, allege that, along with
the rest of the world, we have been heating up for over 100 years.
But now, a simple check of publicly-available information proves these claims wrong. In fact,
New Zealand’s temperature has been remarkably stable for a century and a half. So what’s
going on?
