Background

On March 21, 2007, former U.S. Vice President Al Gore
testified before a joint meeting of the Science and Technology Committee’s
Subcommittee on Energy and Environment and the Energy and Commerce’s
Subcommittee on Energy and Air Quality in the House of Representatives, as well
as the Senate’s Environment and Public Works Committee on the subject of global
warming. We have analyzed Mr. Gore’s written testimony presented at those
hearings for accuracy and found several statements that are either highly
debatable, seriously exaggerated or distorted, or entirely incorrect. As a
result, we have prepared this science-based rebuttal, which demonstrates that
either Mr. Gore had a poor knowledge of the available scientific literature when
composing his testimony or that he deliberately chose to ignore numerous
pertinent scientific facts that contradict the essence of his global warming
thesis. And to enable everyone to satisfy themselves that we have not taken any
of Mr. Gore’s testimony out of context in this endeavor, his full testimony can
be accessed on the website of the Senate’s Environment and Public
Works Committee here.
